Dumpster Transport

One of my jobs during the move was to transport the four dumpsters
to the new facility with the Taylor —
a slow and rocky three mile journey
across almost the entire airport —
with this gorgeous view!

Update from Jeff, 5/12 — and Rich’s amazing response! (see comments)

Hello!

Rich asked me how I’m doing, so I thought I’d just write an update to everyone.

We’ve been busy moving at work. Thankfully, it’s almost done. We painted parts of our original, now remodeled cargo building, today.

I did take some photos during the move, including the eagles (one is sitting on the nest), but I haven’t had a chance yet to work on them and get them online.

The Most Beautiful Fine Art Gallery in the World? | Camera Sensor Size Comparison

This may be the most beautiful fine art gallery in the world … those mighty, 600 year old, cedar tree trunks!!! And I can only imagine the cedar wood smell — ummm!

Up, right now on Rodney Lough Jr.’s home page are photos of his new 2,500 square foot gallery in Las Vegas. And if you click on the Press Center tab, you’ll see an overview with the photos.

I spent many hours at Rodney’s tiny Sausalito gallery and his giant, 5,000 square foot Pier 39 gallery last May, where I saw what may be my favorite photo of all time. It looks great online, but the 24 x 40 inch print, seen in person, lit by halogens — magnificent!!! This Outdoor Photographer article pdf file also highlights this photo — large image!

And Rodney achieves the finest detail possible, because he shoots exclusively an 8 x 10 camera which actually uses 8 x 10 inch film! In comparison (Wikipedia has a great chart), most pro photographers shoot SLRs that have an APS sensor that is about 0.9 x 0.6 inches. And the largest sensors in the pocket cameras are 0.3 x 0.2 inches, which is what my G11 uses.

My 5D MkII has a 35mm size sensor that measures 1.4 x .95 inches. And Elizabeth Carmel shoots a Hasselblad that has a medium format sensor measuring about 2 x 1.5 inches.

Her up to 60-inch prints are also stunning. I also visited her gallery in Truckee, CA, last year.

It is wonderful to see, firsthand, what can be done with an 8 x 10. But in my opinion, it’s really overkill (and so limiting to shoot with), unless one would print really, really, REALLY big, which he can definitely do.

His galleries are worth checking out. He has one at the Mall of America too.

The Red Wall: Almost Done

I’m almost done with the Cargo’s Last Stand project

12/30/09

I have only a few photos left to post;
though, the red wall is still intact
(as far as I know).
It may get some more action.

I still need to shoot Miguel, at least.

And we still have the move to the old freight building.

We’ll see.

I’m at 12/28 you all. Phew!

I’m starting to post the last departure photos.

So I’m finally getting towards the end.

Lots of red wall photos, though.

Those will be fun.

God bless!!!

so it won’t hit the runway during rotation on take-off

Area 51 (compartment 51) is on the right

From this super wide-angle view, the ceiling looks a lot higher than it really is.
At the end, it’s only a few feet high.
I work the entire bin on my knees.

Imagine stacking up-to 120 pound boxes of fish by hand,
coated with wax — so the boxes slide and we slide —
on wax coated aluminum,
slip-sliding away …
.

The Bulk — Downhill View

Incidentally, our guys* loaded so much fish into bulk during Cargo’s Last Stand that the rubber belts of our belt loaders got so coated by wax from the fish boxes that even the non-wax-coated boxes often slid right down the belt during onload and offload.

*I can say guys, literally, because rarely did the ladies get assigned to bulk, but some of the leads didn’t honor some of the older guys in the same way.

Lower Deck: With Caesar

Tech info:
This is a good color temperature example. Notice how compartment 43 is white, while the same color panels further forward are much warmer. COMP 43 is illuminated mostly by daylight, which is a colder color temperature than the incandescent lights that light the inner belly.

Also, the extreme wide-angle lens distorts my face and especially my head, being at the edge of the photo. But Caesar, in the center, is mostly perspectively balanced.

Sundown

Sunday — December 27 — 3 PM

I came in on my day off, Cargo’s-Last-Stand Eve. This, the last freighter was scheduled to leave the following morning. This was my last chance to take some photos of the group and of this airplane before it would be turned into scrap aluminum. Most of the other freighters are sitting in the desert.

I asked the afternoon shift crew if they would also like to be photographed in the engine. Caesar was the only volunteer.

With the plane facing directly south, and just a few days after winter solstice (our shortest day, the sun setting to the SW), the the lighting was perfect. We took 8 shots in less than 5 minutes. What an opportunity!

Lots more photos to come you all …

Thanks to everybody for tuning in.

Lots of more Cargo’s Last Stand photos coming.

I’m putting a lot of TLC into this.
Each photo is hand-crafted from RAW.

Most have been shot with the little Canon G10 and G11,
but many of these last photos are shot with Canon’s 5D Mark II.

And I just got better noise reduction software
so the G11 photos shot in low light will pop!

Thanks for the memories!

Apology & Update

For those of you who are waiting for the rest of my Cargo’s Last Stand photos, which I took during the last month of our freighter operation, I apologize for taking so long.

I’ve been spending a lot of time at ONEcanhappen, and many hours watching IHOP’s revival, for which I have almost 40 posts up so far, many of which are original.

Spiritual revival is the most important issue for me. Without a Third Great Awakening happening, I don’t see how the coming years will be very palatable. But we can emotionally handle anything that comes our way if we’re in God, together as ONE! [Those of us who choose to live this way, of course]

I know this is Greek to many. It’s explained at ONEcanhappen. I’ll just say here that when it happens, many (even non-Christians) will be so glad all over the world. This will be huge! Wait and see. It’s possible that it may even start in Anchorage, Alaska!

But I will start cranking out the photos soon. Sorry to keep you waiting. I think about my responsibility to you all every day.

Also, I’ve updated Jeff’s Writings, which is a listing of much of my original material. Scroll down a bit for the non-religious stuff, if that’s what you’re interested in.

And I just have to say: please beware of Glenn Beck. I know he says a lot of good things. But look at what he’s really up to. I just posted this. Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News is up to no good. He’s a globalist. I have almost 200 Media Bias Revealed posts up at ToBeFree. A good example is how Fox News made sure that Republicans would reject Ron Paul in the 2008 Presidential election. And now they’re doing it to Debra Medina in Texas, with the help of Sarah Palin.

I’m so disappointed with Sarah. I sat just a few feet from her in a meeting where Francis Frangipane was saying we’ll have a revival here in Alaska in which people will be coming from all around, to the extent that it would be wise to even buy hotels. She opened the meeting in prayer. But it turns out that she was vetted by Henry Kissinger, a very high ranking one-world-government globalist. I have categories in the pull-down menu at ToBeFree for “Globalism—One-World Gov’t” (115 posts), Secret Societies (116 posts), and Sarah Palin (31 posts).

Sarah is playing both sides. Chuck Baldwin explains. He’s the guy I voted for in 2008 for President after Ron Paul was out of the picture, having gotten hardly any support from the ‘Christians.’ So sad!! We would have real HOPE for America’s future and real CHANGE, right now, had Ron Paul been elected. But without a spiritual awakening, America couldn’t see through the media spin machine and how 9/11 really was an inside job.

I currently have 72 posts on 9/11, but this is probably my favorite. Top architect explains why 9/11 buildings were brought down by controlled demolition and Al Qaeda didn’t have the technology or access to do it. Who did? Two months before the ELEVATOR MODERNIZATION PROJECT, Nick ROCKEFELLER predicted a 9/11-like event to trigger war!

You may have noticed that I’m doing a lot of these longer titles, which are inspired by G. Edward Griffin. He’s a master at it. I’m a bit clumsy. But I think readers get the idea even if they don’t watch the video or read the post.

But ‘THEY’ couldn’t be that EVIL?? That’s the title of another category, now having 24 posts, of which this is so telling: David Rockefeller: “I’m PROUD of” being “part of a SECRET CABAL working AGAINST the best interests of the United States” David wrote this in his public autobiography, page 405, which you can purchase at Amazon. They’re open about it, but this is hard for those who are raised in Lake Woebegone to fathom, which is one of the reasons I have a category called America’s Getting Jacked (181 posts). And I have a category on The Rockefellers too (42 posts). I’ve been doing my homework. I can pretty much prove anything I’m claiming at either of my sites. If you need help finding something, both sites have search engines (bottom of the right-hand column), or drop me a line:

A good overview of how they‘re doing it to us is: Joel Skousen: Annual Big Picture Briefing On World Affairs. I’ve bolded the key points for readability.

But some of you probably just want a good laugh. Check out this 1-minute gem!

God bless!

Alaska: R. T. Kendall, author of “Total Forgiveness” (a forgive-others-&-be-free book) will be speaking at Abbott Loop on Sunday

R. T. Kendall, author of Total Forgiveness (a forgiving others book) will be speaking at Abbott Loop Community Church (ALCC) next Sunday morning in Anchorage, Alaska. The receptionist didn’t know what his topic would be. Service starts at 10am.

From: Amazon’s product description of Total Forgiveness:

When everything in you wants to hold a grudge, point a finger and remember the pain, God wants you to lay it all aside. You can avoid spiritual quicksand and experience the incredible freedom found in total forgiveness. Is total forgiveness easy? Of course not…but this book will give you a game plan…and the encouragement to cast out areas of unforgiveness that have kept you from enjoying the best God has to offer you.

From: Wikipedia

Robert Tillman Kendall (b. July 13, 1935) is a Christian writer, speaker, and teacher who pastored Westminster Chapel for 25 years. He is author of more than 40 books, including Total Forgiveness.[1] Kendall is currently listed as part of the Word, Spirit & Power team, a non-denominational Charismatic ministry.

Please pray for revival to happen at ALCC, and please pray for me. I have an opportunity right now for which I’ve been waiting many years. Please pray that hearts would be open to the truth.

Update 1/19/10

Greetings!

First, a professional photographer was hired by Northwest Airlines in Anchorage to take some photos of our 747 Cargo operations’ last days. We didn’t have much notice, so many employees, including Yours Truly, didn’t know about the shoot. It wasn’t well attended, but the shots are now available, and the photographer took a number of shots that I didn’t.

They’re available here: layer8.zenfolio.com/nwcargo

Here’s one example:

Group photo shot by Bryan Hickok

Many of us are missing

Also, I’ve been dragging my feet getting the rest of my photos online, but I have a strategy. I have a new monitor on the way that will help immensely. And after I get my computer back from the shop I’ll start posting the shots, earliest photos first.

I am still working for NWA in Anchorage; though, we’re pretty much Delta now, the world’s largest airline. We still have air freight, but it will only fly on passenger aircraft now. For those of us still working here at cargo, our jobs are still very iffy. I would love to be a full-time photographer someday.

My goal is still to post more of the fine-art photos that I’ve shot, especially the flower photos. I’m very excited about them, but didn’t particularly want them used by others for financial gain. It has occurred to me that I could put the text for the chapters of my online prophecy/someday-book, Let Us Be ONE onto the photos. This would help watermark the images as well as create more interest in “Let Us Be ONE.” I would really like to have one photo for each of the 34 chapters — to knock people’s socks off!!!

Lots of work ahead, though. I could really use prayer support, for those of you so inclined. There’s a lot of hate out there and I’m more than I’d like to be mostly a one-man operation. It’s not easy fighting this globalist regime that wants to dominate our lives. Photography is one of the ways I can shine the light, brightly — focusing on the positive!!!

Not much time to mess around, anymore.

Thanks!

Lots of NWA Cargo photos soon — Monday was the end of an era — Cargo’s last stand

It was sad to see it end. Monday, 12/28 was the last flight.

After the Fog – 10/19/09

No one will ever see a NWA Cargo plane flying over Anchorage (or anywhere else) again, for they are all parked in the desert or being dismantled.

And many of us will never see each other again.

Away

But I’ve taken a ton of photos to help capture the memories and to share what an amazing and very special experience this has been.

Now I have my work cut out for me: sorting out, converting from RAW, and posting all of these photos. It’s hard to estimate a time frame, but I’d guess it will take me a few weeks to get them online.

God bless!

Jeff Fenske

__________

As of 2006, Northwest Airlines Cargo was the largest cargo carrier among U.S. combination passenger and cargo airlines. NWA Cargo’s fleet of dedicated Boeing 747 freighter aircraft flew from some key cities the United States and East Asia as well as Amsterdam connecting with the carrier’s cargo hub in Anchorage, Alaska (Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport), facilitating the quick transfer of cargo between large cities on both sides of the Pacific. NWA Cargo also transports freight aboard the passenger fleet of Northwest Airlines to more than 250 cities worldwide. Delta announced that the NWA Cargo hub will be shut down by the end of 2009. Little Su (unfinished symphony — the photo that almost wasn’t)

I almost totally lost this photo (and the few others that I really like from this gorgeous and magical fall-in-Alaska day in which I listened to Gordon Lightfoot’s Don Quixote CD while driving—and singing…. What a breath of fresh air that reminded me of the adventures with my high school friend who is no longer with us. We almost always played Gordon) due to my first major computer download misstep, which also affected the photos of the next day. Ouch! But thankfully I had saved the best images elsewhere.

Where is the sky? We’re supposed to be seeing a light blue sky with thin whispy clouds, which some of its less-exposed brothers and sisters have, which I mistakenly didn’t download before erasing them. Cry, cry. I did save a nearby uncle though, which has the sky. So thanks to miracle of Photoshop, someday this photo should become a complete image with sky.
