I found what I was looking for when I read Paul and Silas’ account of worshiping God in song while in chains in prison after being stripped and severely beaten for simply preaching the gospel. Acts 16:

THANKS for sharing this short testimony, Bill! It seems that hardly any born-again Christians are being led by the Holy Spirit these days, including pastors. Almost all seem lust addicted, which is demon driven, so they think they can never be free. Many are clinging to the false doctrines of OSAS (once saved always saved) and “only believe,” because like Martin Luther, they think that’s the only way they’ll go to heaven. In the meantime, America is falling like a rock, since hardly any “Christians” are salt and light.
We need to get real Christianity going before this is all over, Jesus’ prayer in John 17 and the way Christianity should be explained in Ephesians 4:11-16.
