Universe Contains 123 Quintillion Stars! That’s 123 billion billion. 123 million million million!!! — Hubble Ultra Deep Field

Extrapolating from this Hubble image, scientists have estimated that the universe contains at least 200 BILLION GALAXIES, EACH HAVING an average of 100 BILLION STARS!!!!!!!

Also, our sun is an average sized star.

– –

According to the Space Telescope Science Institute, the Hubble Ultra Deep Field has an angular size of 11.5 square arcminutes. That means that it would take 12,913,983 Deep Field images to cover the entire sphere of the sky!

Just for fun, let’s calculate roughly how many stars that implies in the observable universe: The ultra deep field image has about 10,000 galaxies in it. If we assume that each galaxy has 100,000,000,000 (100 billion) stars, then the approximate number of stars in the visible universe is absolutely staggering: 123,000,000,000,000,000,000

A Mesmerizing Look at Hummingbirds in Flight

MASTERS OF FLIGHT
When it comes to aerodynamics, hummingbirds are fine‑tuned machines.

VIDEOS BY ANAND VARMA
Using a high-speed, high-resolution camera, photographer Anand Varma captures what the naked eye can’t see—the breathtaking maneuvers of a hummingbird in flight. Varma teamed up with scientists studying the biology of hummingbirds to reveal the secrets behind these captivating creatures.

An Anna’s hummingbird drinks artificial nectar from a glass vessel. The bird’s forked tongue makes a sipping motion up to 15 times a second.

Letting hummingbirds loose in wind tunnels allows researchers to probe the mechanics of flight at airspeeds of up to 35 miles an hour. A fog of water vapor makes the wind movement visible.

100 FLAPS/SEC

The wings of some species flap up to a hundred times per second.
A hummingbird shakes off rain the same way a wet dog does, with an oscillation of its head and body.

GRAMS
The smallest hummingbird weighs in at only 1.8 grams, which is less than the weight of a penny. The largest hummingbird tips the scales at around 20 grams.

SECONDS
Hummingbirds are the only birds that can hover in still air for 30 seconds or more.

The broadcast – Eclipse Across America: Through the Eyes of NASA – covered locations along the path of totality, from Oregon to South Carolina including public reactions from all ages. The eclipse’s long path over land provided a unique opportunity to study the Sun, Earth, Moon and their interaction.

(video) Sam Robson: ‘Mary Did You Know?’ – SOLO 9-PART Acapella w/ ‘The Young Messiah’ Film Excerpts

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you’ve delivered, will soon deliver you

Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God

Mary did you know, Mary did you know, Mary did you know

The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you’re holding is the great I am

Mary did you know?

(video) Sam Robson: The Lion King – ‘Circle of Life’ SOLO, UP-TO-50 PART Acapella/Percussion Arrangement!

Singer Multiplies His Voice 50 Times to Bring You the Most Magical Version of the “Circle of Life” You’ll Ever Hear: Watch!

Sam Robsonis an a capella genius who just so happened to multiply himself 50 times in order to bring to you what is most likely the best version of The Lion King‘s “Circle of Life” that you will ever hear. …

Using only his voice, body and percussion, Robson masterfully brings to you the childhood classic with the same passion you’ve come to know and love, but somehow makes it better.

“I’m really excited to bring you my latest project,” he writes beneath his YouTube video. “As a kid I remember seeing the Lion King and being blown away by it, many years later I had the idea to arrange Circle of Life but bailed, due to it’s challenging nature. However 5 years on from my previous idea I decided to give it one more push, and I’m really happy that I did.” …

The outcome is something to behold, as Robson uses 50 different versions of his voice, often all at the same time. …

“Finally I present to you my latest multitrack, with as many as 50 voices at one time I have realised my vision of how I wanted this to sound like and it’s all thanks to the people that have supported me musically,” he adds.

Like the original, Robson’s version starts out fairly low key and ultimately culminates in an impassioned belting of the lyrics. Watch the video…to see him perform in all of his glory. (entire article)

Lyrics:
From the day we arrive on the planet
And, blinking, step into the sun
There’s more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There’s far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

It’s the circle of life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle
The circle of life

Lyrics:
I have often dreamed of a far off place
Where a great warm welcome will be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying this is where I’m meant to be

I will find my way, I can go the distance
I’ll be there someday if I can be strong
I know every mile will be worth my while
I would go most anywhere to feel like I belong

I am on my way – I can go the distance
I don’t care how far – Somehow I’ll be strong
I know every mile will be worth my while
I would go most anywhere to find where I belong

I will beat the odds – I can go the distance
I will face the world – fearless proud and strong
I will please the Gods – I can go the distance
Till I find my hero’s, welcome right where I belong

Truly He taught us to  love  one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With ALL our  hearts  we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!

Awestruck girl in Redwood forest photo: ‘Amongst Giants’ — Glorious!!!

Though these young Redwoods are not at all close to being the largest, this fantastic photo helps viewers experience the awe of what it’s really like to experience this. The little girl looking up with arms over her heart makes it. [The heart is more than a pump].

For maximum experience, click on this image to see the large, detailed one, and click the full-screen arrows. The image opens to wider than a 21.5″ iMac when the browser is fully expanded.

Surprisingly, these Redwoods are in Australia, as the story below explains.

– –

California dreaming: the redwoods of the Otway Ranges

This isn’t the coast of northern California. It is the Otway Ranges in western Victoria, thousands of kilometres from the redwoods’ natural home.

Hidden down an old unsealed logging road near Beech Forest, not a lot is known about the Aire Valley redwoods.

Planted as a softwood logging experiment in the 1930s, their initial growth was slow but eventually, they started to shoot upwards at a rapid rate. The trees were never cut down and have now grown to a height of about 60 metres [197 feet].

Forestry expert Roger Smith, who has written a book on the Otways redwoods, thinks they could grow to almost twice that height in the next 70 years.

That would make them some of the tallest trees in the world. “Hyperion”, a redwood in northern California, holds the title of the tallest tree in the world at 115 metres [377 feet].
