The String Cheese Incident – “Colorado Bluebird Sky” – 11/25/2011

Woke up this morning
And the first thing I did see
Was mountains rising to the sky
On every side of me

Rick Beato: Today’s Music Really Bad? – Today’s Top 10 vs 1973 Top 10 — Monotonous Autotuned Crap vs Gold!

Rick proves the vast difference; though, I would say NONE of today’s top 10 songs are worth listening to.

Top Comment: “There is some music being made today that is fantastic. Unfortunately, you will never hear it on mainstream radio.”

“Why can’t people just sing harmonies instead of autotuning them?” – Rick Beato

Epic volcano eruption drone and still photos in Iceland — brought tears to my eyes!

I watch a lot of photography videos, which I rarely mention or post, but this one is exceptional in its grandeur — really is epic!

My President Donald Trump Dream 8/14/23

TIMING: President Trump is being hunted down by the left, and risks being jailed so he can’t even run in 2024.

SETTING: As is often the case in dreams, my car was different than in real life, and the location was unfamiliar.

THE DREAM: I was standing next to the right side of my car, parked on the street, and President Trump pulled up in a regular car, by himself (no security). He was so interested in what was in my car that he pulled up so close that his bumper almost touched mine. I warned him, so he wouldn’t hit it, and then smiled after he stopped, holding up my thumb and forefinger about 1/8 inch apart.

Does This PROVE the ‘Shroud of Turin’ is REAL? — Debate over the Shroud appears to be over. “This is the burial shroud of the historic Jesus of Nazareth”

Is the debate over the Shroud of Turin over? Many Christians believe it was the burial cloth of Jesus and even non-Christian scientists struggle to explain how the image of a man was imposed onto it. But some scientists have claimed that carbon dating has proven it is much younger than previously thought. However, Shroud of Turin Research Project Official Photographer Barrie Schwortz joins Glenn to explain why he’s refuting that claim. According to Schwortz, who was once a “total skeptic” of the Shroud, the carbon dating was improperly done. Instead, he believes the most plausible explanation is simple: “This is the burial shroud of the historic Jesus of Nazareth.”

Jordan Peterson: “The higher your goal, the higher your possibility for happiness; though, you have to suffer from the distance. If you don’t set a goal you’ll never be happy”

“The most unhappy people are liberal men. The next most unhappy people are liberal women.”

“The left wing tyrannical types are particularly good at manipulating guilt, which works well on conservatives, because they tend to be more conscientious.”

“People who have nothing to shoot for aren’t happy. … Happiness occurs when you see yourself moving towards a valued goal. … So the higher your goal, the higher your possibility for happiness; even though, you have to suffer from the distance. If you don’t set a goal you’ll never be happy.”

James Taylor – Wichita Lineman – Redwoods Edition

I prefer Glenn Campbell’s version, but Jimmy Webb just mentioned James Taylor recorded his song too, and this has footage of the amazing Redwoods!

I just updated & expanded: The Didache (70-100 AD): Reconciliation was required to attend early church meetings! “Let no one who is at odds with his fellow come together with you, until they be reconciled, that your sacrifice may not be profaned”

Is The Didache a blueprint for the way churches should be?

This is one of the writings of “the early Christian fathers” that I especially liked. It’s big on unity!

What if we compare The Didache to what is practiced in today’s ‘churches?’

But every Lord’s day gather yourselves together, and break bread, and give thanksgiving after having confessed your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure. But let no one who is at odds with his fellow come together with you, until they be reconciled, that your sacrifice may not be profaned.

Is there even one ‘church’ in America that requires reconciliation? How many pastors have fully reconciled so they’re qualified to lead?

The Didache mentions prophets being a common leadership ministry in the late first century church (like Ephesians 4:11). Where are they in today’s churches?

The Didache also has “the way of death” list that is similar to Paul’s “will not inherit the Kingdom” list in Galatians 5.

Lord, THANK YOU for releasing me from the bondage of sin. May you touch the hearts of other people that they may know you deeper and SURRENDER their lives to you. Amen.

A REASON TO WRITE – 1:05:55 @ LIVE: Tucker Carlson WORLD FIRST Interview Since Leaving Fox! – #163 – Stay Free With Russell Brand:

Tucker says having a show on social meeting forces him to write. He’d rather bird hunt or fish, but writing is ‘wonderful!

“What social media offers for me in the short term is an audience, but also a reason to write. I can’t think clearly without writing. … I need to write things out. … Writing a script forces you to think through everything about the issue — to have a much deeper understanding of it. … I couldn’t go too long without writing or my IQ would drop dramatically.”

Alaska’s slow start to wildfire season thanks to a cool, wet summer

Alaska’s slow start to wildfire season a relief after Connecticut-sized area burned last year

Alaska is off to the slowest start of a wildfire season in three decades — an immense relief one year after fires scorched nearly enough land to cover Connecticut and even threatened remote Alaska Native communities on the tundra.

Thanks to a cool, wet summer, wildfires so far this year have burned just 1½ times the size of New York’s Central Park.

Anchorage has only gone above 70 degrees F (21.1 degrees C) once this year.

New Fat Loss Foods at COSTCO | 22 Items to Eat & AVOID Right Now

NOTABLES:

25:15 Organic A2 Whole Milk (small bottles). Really good and healthy. It’s my second choice. Mom and I are getting Alaska Range Dairy’s Whole Milk Non Homogenized in returnable glass bottles at Natural Pantry. Has an AMAZING flavor even better than these Costco bottles. Spendy. [Homogenization wrecks the fat globules. This does not.]

Haig’s Tzatziki sounds great, but don’t know if our Costco has it. Will check.

27:15 is interesting. I got this organic yogurt a few days ago. It’s not as thick as regular yogurt, but it’s made from grass fed cows, which Thomas doesn’t mention. Grass fed makes the fat excellent.

I get and eat a lot of Costco’s grass fed beef patties in the frozen section — very healthy and great flavor (as long as they’re *not overcooked*. Since they’re frozen, there’s no danger of eating if not cooked long enough, since all of the critters are dead.

Canon lens TEARDOWN! What’s INSIDE a new lens?

Canon is now using rectangular plastic elements in their mirrorless cameras. Glass has always had the greatest light transmission.

Amazing technology and video, but so sad to see them stuck in the 3:2 aspect ratio, regular sized sensor. I’m moving on to medium format Fuji, where more of the image circle of Canon’s great EF lenses can be used in any aspect ratio.

They should have developed a full frame, oversized, multi-aspect ratio sensor, or at least Panasonic should have. This is sad to see.

Shooting the GFX in different aspect ratios

Mark’s medium format Fuji GFX 100S has 7 aspect ratios to compose images in the viewfinder: 1:1, 7:6, 5:4, 4:3 (native), 3:2, 16:9, 65:24 (pano).

Most full frame 35mm cameras still only offer 1:1, 3:2 (native) or 16:9. Some add 4:3 and/or 5:4. Panasonic S1R has 1:1, 4:3, 3:2 (native), 16:9, 2:1, 65:24.

iPhone only shoots in 16:9 and 4:3.

Gordon’s Light: Split Rock Lighthouse — A rare, spring lighting honoring the late Gordon Lightfoot

Thomas Spence took this photo.

The Big Lake They Call Gitche Gumee…

There was a rare beacon lighting at Split Rock Lighthouse on Lake Superior this evening to honor the life and music of Gordon Lightfoot, who passed away earlier this week. The beacon, which was decommissioned in 1969, is always lit on November 10th to honor the 29 lives lost on that day in 1975 when the lake freighter Edmund Fitzgerald was sunk in a stormy gale. It’s one of only a few times per year they illuminate the beacon. For many, Lightfoot’s song about that night resonates every time they visit The Lake. That was surely the case tonight at Split Rock. The light of the near full moon lit the scene nicely. Waves lapping at the shoreline with a gentle, cool breeze. Perfect evening. Thank you to Hayes and the crew for lighting the candle tonight.

Gordon Lightfoot Meant a Lot to Me – ’70s Lake Superior Adventures

Every time my high school and college friend, Steve and I would drive up to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA in NE Minnesota) to go canoeing, we listened to Gordon Lightfoot’s music much of the way, and would stop at Split Rock Lighthouse. I remember once cooking our macaroni and cheese in a crack in the ground by the cliff, since it was so windy.

MOVIE: Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind (2019)

Great movie about Gordon Lighfoot’s life, released in 2019! Gordon speaks a lot in the film at about age-80, and is pretty honest about things he regrets having done. This is the first time I’ve seen his story told. His music meant a lot to me in the ’70s!
