Hard not to cry during some of this. Karen’s pristinely pure voice, the harmonies, and dying so young.
Would people even be interested in music like this today? There was wholesomeness back then: white instead of dark.
Amazing history here: What Is The Carpenters Greatest Song?
I TOTALLY agree with what Rick says here. I heard a song on the radio a few days ago, and immediately knew it was Jeff Beck on guitar. Rick is a master at explaining the technical, but doesn’t talk about the heart, where this comes from, and then the technical makes it possible.
Beck is now 78. And I don’t know what’s going on with his heart spiritually, but what comes out of him is often amazing.
How in the world do people actually claim that any of us just happened by chance, created by no one?
Start at minute-2:45, if you’re pressed for time.
Tears for Fears did a major concert tour this year with both Curt and Roland at age-60. I’ve always loved this song.

Famous in the ’80s, Tears for Fears did a major concert tour this year with both Curt and Roland at age-60. This is my favorite version that I saw online. Has some spunk, and is good quality, especially considering it’s filmed on a tiny Sony RX-100 mk 7.
One of my favorite places on Earth!

It’s easy to get discouraged in Landscape photography when you visit a location over and over, but you can’t seem to get an image. On this journey, we capture the Coastal Redwoods, a location I have struggled to get an image of for 10 years.
I missed seeing ‘Cheyenne’ as a child, since I was a bit too young, but have watched many episodes recently. Many inspire virtue; are pure gold, with a few being let downs. It was a different day back then on television.
“Cheyenne is an American Western television series of 108 black-and-white episodes broadcast on ABC from 1955 to 1962. The show was the first hour-long Western, and was the first hour-long dramatic series of any kind, with continuing characters, to last more than one season.”
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
Paul’s longtime dream is coming true!
Construction begins on our new 49-foot aluminum sailboat – starting with the very first welds, which Paul is given the honour of doing!! We explain how MIG welding works and show the process of assembling and welding frames and bulkheads for our Orion 49 sailboat through the use of regular and time-lapse video, animations and interviews at the factory in Makkum in the Netherlands.
“Haughty pride is the opposite of the spirit of humility that God seeks.”
“Pride has been called the cancer of the soul, the beginning of all sin, and sin in its final form.”
“Pride is viewed as a great sin and rebellion against God because it presumes to possess excellence and glory that belong to God alone.”
“Prideful people treat others with contempt and cruelty.”
“Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”
“Pride is taking the glory that belongs to God alone and keeping it for ourselves.”
“Pride is essentially self-worship.”
“Work out your salvation; pride has to go.”
“Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
“We are not to boast about ourselves. If we want to boast, then we are to proclaim the glories of God. … It is what God says about us that makes the difference.”
“Do not be caught in this trap, pride. Fight and get delivered by the Spirit of God.”
AMAZING! This drone racer’s reflexes and 3D memory are lightning quick and sharp!
Best part is the close-up of him riding the coaster at 11:20!
Disappointing they didn’t spend more time in the Redwoods, but still some nice views.
A road trip to northern California reveals the beauty of old-growth coastal redwood groves, rugged shorelines and a series of state and national parks.
The entire film in one video.
Individual song videos here with lots of info, including why the poor quality:
Amazing song critiqued and appreciated! Includes some thoughts by Seal over the phone.
I was wondering how Rick got the isolated tracks. Here he says Seal got him the stems for the song.
AMAZING, honest and detailed description of what the race was like, and how difficult! Most mushers are not this open. Even cries! I’ve never heard such an incredible interview before.
His dogs live with him in the cabin (37:30)! “They’re all friends.” Wonderfully unconventional, the way it should be! Susan Butcher used to allow one or more dogs in the cabin, in rotation.
“I enjoy the struggle, alone at the homestead with the dogs. … It’s survival and dogs.” “You have to want to work pretty much all the time.”
“Focus forward. … Positive attitude is key. … If I get upset every time something breaks, I would be in trouble.”
16:08 “You have to get to a point where you just don’t care … what anyone else thinks.”
“You know better than anyone else what you like. Don’t give up on that. …when you do get an image it will be created from some place in here (touches his heart), and other people will be able to respond to it as well.”
“I literally walk around and go ‘Huh! That’s beautiful, and I don’t care anyone else thinks it is or not.”

Thankfully, I was able to visit Rodney Lough Jr.’s three galleries before they all closed. What a glorious experience! How he captured God’s nature is breathtaking! I have found it so sad that people’s interest in nature photography has waned, which is why I parked my camera gear.
