I’ve been pushing this since the mid-’80s. GREAT source of SELENIUM (skin elasticity, detox, etc.) and many other key nutrients.

The king is KAL *Imported* Nutritional Yeast; though, it’s more expensive, and the deep yellow colored (fortified) ones work too.

Coconut cream seems to also be high in selenium.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the benefits of nutritional yeast that go beyond providing B vitamins.

Brewers yeast is the by-product of making beer. It’s a bit bitter. Nutritional yeast does not have a bitter taste. Nutritional yeast is actually made with molasses, which is a by-product of sugar cane. Molasses is rich in nutrients.

Nutritional yeast makes 18 amino acids. It’s a complete protein.

Nutritional yeast also contains 15 minerals and trace minerals, such as:

• Selenium

• Chromium

• Manganese

• Copper

• Vanadium

• Molybdenum

Nutritional yeast is rich in glutathione, which is one of the most powerful antioxidants for your liver. It has beta 1-3 glucans, which can help decrease free radicals and stimulate certain white blood cells. Nutritional yeast also has glucose tolerance factors that help stabilize your blood sugar.

Make sure when you buy nutritional yeast supplements, it is non-fortified nutritional yeast. You don’t want it to be enriched with synthetic vitamins. Typically, you won’t see vitamin B12 in nutritional yeast unless it has been added in. If it is added in, make sure it’s the natural version called methylcobalamin.

Benefits of nutritional yeast:

1. Helps decrease stress

2. Helps promote better sleep

3. Helps stabilize blood sugar levels

4. Helps support a healthy immune system

How to use nutritional yeast:

• Nutritional yeast is great on salads or mixed in smoothies

• You can take nutritional yeast as a supplement
