Amazing song utilizes Riverdance’s staccatic rhythm to convey breaking free from the dark side, the way I see it.
I’m not sure what the composer’s mindset is, because dark forces suddenly become the boy’s buddies and assist him in breaking free in the official video (with vocals). Very possibly, the creators of the official video went this route to keep the number of actors as few as possible.
Or it could be on purpose too, to promote the Satanic idea that demons are our friends. But I don’t get that feel from this instrumental version.

Recorded at the 7th Ave. G/F station in Brooklyn, NY on December 10, 2014.
I met Sam on my way home from work transferring between the R and the L. As I was walking down the stairs I thought I was hearing electronic music, which you never hear in the subway. But it had a natural essence to it, almost like acoustic electronic music. It was strange and hard to pinpoint what I was hearing. As I got down to the L platform I saw Sam sitting and playing a strange instrument I had never seen before. He had a crowd around him and lots of donations flowing in. After he finished a song I approached him and he told me about his handpan and that he was from Australia and traveling the world as a busker. What a life! He said everywhere he went he was able to make money for the next leg of his trip. The day before he made $200 in an hour playing in Central Park. I asked if he wanted to record and he did but he was leaving in two days for Central America. I was so excited by this beautiful music that I cancelled plans and we met up the next night to record at my favorite spot.
Took a while to get some good takes and by the end his hands were bleeding because he had been playing so much recently. It was an amazing experience and I love the sound we were able capture down there.

The best glass harp player! If you hear him play you will never forget. The spherical sound of his music is bewitching, seems to be from outer space, unbelievably made. His music leaves the astonished audience speechless.
Biography
Petr Spatina was born in the Czech Republic as a farmer’s son. In his beginnings he played Accordion and Piano until he finally found „his“ instrument, the Glass Harp which he plays now for over 20 years.
Over the years he developed his own technique of playing this instrument and his playing has by far not been reached by anyone in the World. The Glass Harp consists of 33 wine glasses, filled and tuned with water.
The spherical sound of his music is bewitching, seems to be from outer space, unbelievably made.
When Petr Spatina is playing you can feel an incomprehensible and mysterious, almost unreal atmosphere and his music leaves the astonished audience speechless.
Petr Spatina is known world wide, not only through the Skoda Superb Spot (2010) but also because of his TV appearences. In January 2012 he was invited to play at the Jonathan Ross Show, UK and wowed the nation.

I grew up a few miles from Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, and had many good times there.
I heard Carrie on Public Radio perform this song, and thought I’d share. Mom and I laughed. The only thing I ever “held” was a leash, a fishing pole, or handlebars — did a lot of biking there.
