(audio) Jimmy Webb: Songwriting for Glen Campbell, Inspired by God

“…sometimes it’s really transcendent. I’m sitting at the piano and I feel this music filling me and coming out through my hands. And honestly, I know that it’s coming from somewhere else. It’s not just a mental process. … I call it inspiration. … As you know, being a PK [preacher’s kid], when you’re inspired you’re filled with the Spirit. Oscar Hammerstein II came along, and he did believe in inspiration. He believed strongly in inspiration, and he must have had enough inspiration for both of us….” – Jimmy Webb @12:45, transcribed by Jeff Fenske

God bless us everyone
We’re a broken people living under loaded gun
And it can’t be outfought
It can’t be outdone
It can’t outmatched
It can’t be outrun
No

And when I close my eyes tonight
To symphonies of blinding light
Like memories in cold decay
Transmissions echoing away
Far from the world of you and I
Where oceans bleed into the sky

God save us everyone
Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns?
For the sins of our hand
The sins of our tongue
The sins of our father
The sins of our young
No

Linkin Park Documentary – (Hybrid Theory through Living Things)

RIP Chester…Linkin Park has been my favorite band since 6th grade when Hybrid Theory was the first album I’d ever purchased. In my final semester of college I decided to take an independent study course and produced this video as a tribute. The video discusses the band’s growth from their early years of “Hybrid Theory” through their most recent album “Living Things.” My inspiration came from the deep respect and appreciation I have for the band and their music. Their fearlessness to experiment and grow as musicians regardless of the consequences is a testament to their brilliance.

Photographing a $2,500,000 Car with a $50,000 Camera

 Photographing a $2,500,000 Car with a $50,000 Camera

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXyBiDKXBXw?rel=0&showinfo=0&iv_load_policy=3]

How would you go about photographing a $2.5 million car? That’s the challenge photographer Richard Thompson faced last year when he was tasked with shooting the Pagani Huayra BC on the streets of New York. For this car, of which only 100 were produced, Thompson decided to use a Phase One XF 100MP medium format camera kit that costs over $50,000. …

For a straight-on photo, Thompson used a Schneider Kreuznach 240mm LS f/4.5 IF lens with a 2x converter, giving him a focal length of 480mm.

“It really appeals to me to shoot it through a longer lens,” Thompson says in the video. “The focal compression makes the car look a lot more serious, even bigger than it is.”

The shoot was mostly done with available light, but Thompson did use a set of Profoto B1 strobes, often in setups that mimicked the natural sunlight hitting the car.

This has been one of my favorite arrangements for a while, and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to do it. My friend Ronnie (bbstenor419) did it and I decided he had a good idea and it was time for me to do it as well.

Please share this around, I’m sure we all know somebody who might need a reminder to smile sometimes.

(video) Sam Robson: ‘Where is love’ – Oliver! – SOLO MULTI-VOICE Acapella

I don’t usually do this but I feel this video warrants a little explanation. The change in appearance is supposed to represent the sense of time moving forward and how feelings of loneliness, neglect or even depression can stay with us, especially considering the circumstances of the character Oliver had to go through as an orphan. By the end of the arrangement I wanted there to be an element of closure. This is apparent by the end of the movie where Oliver is returned to his foster home and the orchestra plays the final ascending line of Where is love, which to me was an indication that he had finally found it, for good.

Lyrics:
Where is love?
Does it fall from skies above?
Is it underneat the willow tree
That I’ve been dream of?
Where is she?
Who I close my eyes to see?
Will I ever know the sweet “hello”
That’s only meant for me?
Who can say where she may hide?
Must I travel far and wide?
‘Til I am bedside the someone who
I can mean somethin to …
Where…?
Where is love?

Who can say where…she may hide?
Must I travel…far and wide?
‘Til I am beside…the someone who
I can mean…something to…
Where?
Where is love?

My humble arrangement of a classic song from the mid 60’s.
It beautifully touches on the race issues within those times and with that I hope that my interpretation does not take away from it’s original intent.

Lyrics:
I was born by the river in a little tent
Oh and just like the river I’ve been running ev’r since
It’s been a long time, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

It’s been too hard living, but I’m afraid to die
‘Cause I don’t know what’s up there, beyond the sky
It’s been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

I go to the movie and I go downtown
Somebody keep tellin’ me don’t hang around
It’s been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

Then I go to my brother
And I say brother help me please
But he winds up knockin’ me
Back down on my knees,

There have been times that I thought I couldn’t last for long
But now I think I’m able to carry on
It’s been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will

Originally I beautiful poem titled “And did those Feet in Ancient Times” by William Blake. It was later set to music in the 20th century by Sir Hubert Parry and was retitled Jerusalem.
I was initially inspired by hearing Jacob Colliers beautiful arrangement, but for ages struggled to find my own unique angle as I find it very hard to arrange something has has been done already to high standard.
I hope you find my choice of visuals appropriate as I really wanted to tell a story as the message of this hymn is routed in the idea of taking responsibility for the changes in society and more importantly respecting the land you live on.
Also Im from the UK 🙂

Lyrics:
And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England’s mountain green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England’s pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England’s green and pleasant land.

Lyrics:
Oh my Lord what a time
Oh my Lord what a time
From this old world we’ll flee
To live eternally
Oh my Lord what a time

In that fair land
There will be no more night
No sun or moon
For the Lamb of God is light
It’s good to know
That He’s prepared the way
To a bright and endless day

From this old world (from this old world we’ll flee)
Gonna live (to live eternally)
With Christ (with Christ our blessed Lord)
In a home (in the heavenly high)
We’ll shout (we’ll shout)
And sing (and sing)
We’ll walk (we’ll walk)
And talk (and talk)
We’ll shout (we’ll shout)
And sing (and sing)
We’ll walk (we’ll walk)
And talk (and talk)

We’ll shout (we’ll shout)
And praise His name
Everyday (every day will be the same)
Oh my Lord
My burden bearer
My help in trouble
My joy in sorrow
My light in darkness
My sword and shield
