I’ve been watching the Tour of California in the last few years. After the cyclists ride across the Bixby Bridge, south of Carmel, the commentators talk about the Redwoods along this portion of Highway 1 — but they don’t show them. And I’ve often wondered why.

Perhaps it’s because they’re mostly nonexistent.

These trees were among the only stand of Redwoods that I noticed during the drive — unlike the groves that can continue for miles in northern California. This group was only about 500 foot deep.
